Key Projects

Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Equivalent
Phase I Environmental Site Assessments performed throughout the continental United States and Puerto Rico in accordance with ASTM Standards on Environmental Site Assessments.
Conducted Environmental Due Diligence Audits for the Federal Aviation Administration at LaGuardia and Syracuse International Airports, NY; Newark International and Teterboro Airports, NJ; Philadelphia International Airport, PA; Richmond International Airport, VA; BWI International Airport, MD; and at nine sites in southern MD and Northern VA. The audits address CERCLA liability and concerns for the health of any on-site workers. General environmental conditions are evaluated for the site, and if environmental liability is determined, the scope of the concern is defined and steps for mitigation of the concern are recommended.
Performed hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste (HTRW) investigations for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) New York District. The study identified the existence of, or potential for, HTRW contamination in proposed ACOE project locations in Middlesex County, Bayonne, and Cliftwood Beach, New Jersey.

Site Investigations
Performed soil vapor analyses using photoionization and flame ionization detectors for the screening of volatile organic compounds in shallow soils in NY, NJ, GA, and CT.
Performed soil sampling and analysis through foundation of building in Waterbury, CT.
Performed groundwater investigation for compliance with Health Department Order on Consent at St. James, NY car dealership.
Conducted deep soil boring for soil and groundwater contamination investigation at former textile manufacturer in NY. Performed headspace analysis of groundwater at discreet depths using flame ionization detector (OVA/GC).
Vadose Zone and Groundwater Investigation by headspace analysis for a metropolitan transit authority.
Participated in soil vapor, soil, and groundwater investigation and remediation at a construction site in Carle Place, NY. During shopping center construction a hazardous waste release to on-site soils was discovered from a previous occupant. The horizontal and vertical extent of the soil and groundwater contamination was delineated.
Supervised underground storage tank removals and monitoring well installations and conducted hydrogeologic investigations at multiple sites in NY and NJ.
Completed extensive Phase II Investigation at a nine-acre marina in Mattituck, New York. The investigation included over 100 soil samples, subsurface drainage structure (sanitary and stormwater) sampling, storage tank testing, and bulkhead engineering report.

Underground Storage Tanks (USTs)
Tightness testing of USTs.
Conducted soil borings for UST leak evaluation.
UST removal/closure at bulk storage facilities.

Hydrogeologic Investigations
Environmental site review and geohydrologic investigation for a metal parts manufacturer in Commack, NY. Soil, groundwater, and soil vapor samples were analyzed and slug and pump aquifer tests were performed. Based on the physical and chemical data, contaminant plume migration was predicted.
Participated in hydraulic conductivity testing at a major tunnel project in New York City. Work included design, performance and analysis of slug tests, specific capacity tests and pumping tests. The data was used to model dewatering effects of tunnel construction and led to the design of a cutoff wall encompassing the project area.
Water table contour and contaminant isopleth mapping using Surfer software computer program.

Superfund
Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Studies for Superfund sites in Farmingdale, Lindenhurst, and New Cassel, NY
Prepared regulatory compliance and environmental status report for the Nassau County Attorney's Office regarding the New Cassel Industrial Area, NY Superfund site.
Successfully executed Superfund Delisting Petition for circuit board manufacturer in Bay Shore, NY. Historical and analytical information was compiled to petition the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) to delist the facility from the Inactive Hazardous Waste Site list.

Landfills
Conducted Hydrogeologic Investigation in accordance with (NYSDEC) Part 360 regulations (landfill closure) at landfills in Springs and Montauk, NY. Site work included groundwater and methane monitoring well installation, sampling, and data analysis.
Calculated U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Hazard Ranking System (HRS) Score for landfill in Springs, NY.

Remediation
Participated in investigation of industrial waste underground storage tank for packaging company in Farmingdale, NY. Executed remediation of soils by installation of vapor extraction system under Level C Personal Protective Equiptment conditions.
Supervised contractor performance of soil remediation consisting of evacuation and disposal of approximately 5,000 tons of PCB, metal and petroleum contaminated soil in Carle Place, NY.
Soil remediation from on site leaching pools was conducted; and facility closure executed in accordance with Suffolk County regulations at a metal parts manufacturer in Commack, NY.
Designed soil vapor extraction system for remediation of shallow soils in a former dry cleaner, Bronx, NY.
Remediation of onsite sanitary systems throughout New York.
On-site supervisor for transport and disposal of 30,000 tons of petroleum-contaminated soil from facility in Calverton, NY.
